Housing societies in Hyderabad take up vaccination drives

Hyderabad: Resident welfare associations (RWAs) and housing societies in the city have intensified their efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. Taking a leap ahead, members of several housing societies who were ensuring Covid-19 guidelines are followed in their gated communities, have now started arranging special in-house vaccination drives for residents within the premises.
While a special vaccination drive in My Home Bhooja near Durgam Cheruvu and My Home Vihanga in Financial District commenced on Sunday, most of the residents of Lanco Hills in Manikonda and PBEL City in Kokapet have already been administered with the first dose of vaccine.
For this special vaccination drive, which has the medical teams coming to the gated communities or apartment blocks and vaccinating the residents there itself, the housing societies have tied up with corporate hospitals. Jayabheri Orange County in Financial District and Serene County in Gachibowli are some among dozens of housing societies that are planning to vaccinate their residents in June. In-house vaccination, they say, in a way also helps in reducing the load on hospitals.
“As I have elders in my family, It would be better if they are vaccinated within the society instead of hospitals,” said Viiveck Verma, a resident of Jayabheri Orange County, Financial District. Domestic helps and staffers can also be vaccinated in the societies to reduce the load on the Primary Health Care Centers, he added.
