Ever since WhatsApp announced its new privacy policy, which was followed by an intense backlash, rival apps to the Facebook-owned instant messaging app became a little mainstream.
Amongst all the rivals, it was mainly Signal and Telegram that stood out and since then there has been a silent feature battle that is ongoing between these platforms.
One such new feature that has now been spotted in Signal — and is missing in WhatsApp — is the support to share high-resolution images.
According to a report by Android Police, the latest Signal beta v5.11.0 of the app shows that users will be able to share 4K images — that too without changing the settings.
In order to send a 4K image, users will have to tap the image icon in the bottom left and select High.
Just last week, Signal in a blog post challenged user privacy policies of Facebook and Instagram by sharing a series of ads on Instagram to showcase how the social network collects information from users and displays ads based on those private details.
The firm claimed that companies like Facebook aren’t building technology for users but for their data.
“They collect everything they can from FB, Instagram, and WhatsApp in order to sell visibility into people and their lives,” Signal said in a blog post.
