Apple is expected to launch the new generation iPad Pro model in the second half of April, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report claims that the iPad Pro will be launched in two sizes, however, the Mini LED screen, which is claimed to improve contrast ratios and deliver a brighter picture, will be exclusive to the more expensive 12.9-inch model.
The report also added that Apple is currently facing production issues that may lead to short initial supplies of the upcoming device.
Taiwan-based suppliers Ennostar Inc., General Interface Solution Holding Ltd. and Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology Corp. are among the key providers of Mini LED technology, revealed the report and also claimed that “at least one of the MiniLED makers has had to recently pause production…”
Besides the enhanced display, the upcoming iPad Pro models are also expected to offer improved cameras and come powered by faster processor that are at par with the custom M1 chip in the company’s latest Macs. Also, the iPad Pro models are also said to offer a faster USB-C port, which is compatible with a wider range of accessories and monitors.
A previous report by 9to5Mac that cites reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had suggested the same that Apple is set to adopt mini-LED displays for the new iPad Pro.
According to the report, even though Kuo had said that Apple will first use the mini-LED display for the new iPad Pro, “other iPad models will switch to OLED displays, beginning with iPad Air next year.”
